Starting at a local bar at Boston University, where creator Andy Rudnick was bartending, the party was created to give Jewish singles, who usually don’t have a place to go on Christmas Eve, a place to party. Today, the Matzoball was grown from a local college town bar, to a nationwide event, connecting 50,000 young Jewish singles together since its inception.
Founded in 1987, the Matzoball has become about more than just partying, but also has morphed into a casual matchmaking service. With over 1,000 marriages, there are reports of couples that met 25 years ago, whose 21-year-old children are attending this year for the first time. Creator, Andy, even met his wife at one of his events.
In many cities across the country, Matzoball has become a highly anticipated annual tradition where young Jewish singles can meet, network, make lifelong friendships, and relationships.
